Duties of security guards
Security guards are required to have arresting authority within the city limits of Salisbury.
Guards should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before the event is to begin and report to the Museum staff person on duty.
Guards may assist attendees with parking. Guards are also expected to inform guests that entrance for special events is through the rear doors (elevator accessibility).
Guards are expected to patrol the perimeter of the Museum, and the entrances, as well as keep an eye on guests who may be on the exterior balcony. Guests are not allowed use of the first floor. If at any time the Museum staff requests that guards perform a security type function (removing someone from a table top, asking someone to leave the area, etc.) the guards are expected to comply. The event is a private function and open to invited guests only.
Guards are expected to monitor guests as they leave the event and return to their cars, being especially cognizant of the guests’ behavior if alcohol has been served. Guards must remain until all guests and caterers have vacated the premises. Before leaving, guards must notify the Museum staff that they are ready to leave and wait as staff secures the building.
While performing duties as a guard at the Museum, you are expected to continue to be professional, helpful, and courteous at all times as you are also representing the Museum, as well as your profession.
